Is it possible to create an entirely seperate logbook WITHIN my existing HRD logbook? I have a logbook for all of my home QTH contacts, but I would like to have a seperate one for my portable QSOs.

Thanks!

If I understand you correctly, you want a second logbook for portable contact. It's as easy as adding another database.

Open the Logbook program (these instruction presume you are using V5) Under Logbook > Databases > Manager click on Add. Call it what you want in the title and description. Then OK. Now 'Open' and select the name you just entered. Have at it....

I haven't done this, but my tech does and I've watched him.

I was ables to get that far, but I am getting an error. See the attached. I do have v5.

Do I need to change the target folder? If so, what do I change it to?

Looks like you have Windows 7. Try this. Close out all the HRD programs. Find the Icon for Logbook in the HRD Folder under the Program Files directory. Right click on the Icon and select Run As Administrator. You'll only need to do this once.

It looks like a permissions issue and performing the above should take care of it.

Bingo! One last question.... I have the backup archiving into a folder in my external HD. Is there anything special that I need to do to the backup, or will it automatically backup ALL databases?

It should back up both.

Glad to help.

Came to find out after running as admin it didn't like the name - "KD8KSN/P EN90/EM99 Dec. 17 2010." I changed it to "EN90sa EM99bx Dec. 17 2010" and it works fine.

Now my question I finally got LOTW up and running. how do I export my HRD logs to LOTW? I keep try to save them as ADIF files but they aren't beeing saved. I tried downloading to a zip drive and there was nothing there.

Highlight QSOs > right click > Export > ADIF > select which folder you want to save it to (see attchment) > Export > Finish. That will save the ADIF file to your HD. Now you will need to convert it to a .tq8 file with tQSL. You can then upload it to LoTW.

How does that work?

An easier way is to download HRD utilities. Google HRD utilities and download and install it. Configure appropriately and not only will it upload your log, but you can also DOWNLOAD your confirmed QSO's and then update the LoTW Received field. It also works with eQSL, but that is already built into Ver 5.

I wasn't aware of this feature - great!
