So I called my dad the other evening and he wasn't home. Got the answering machine.

I go ahead and leave a message and at the end of the message I actually catch myself JUST before closing with my call sign! hehehe.

Anyone besides myself done this? <grin>

With all the telemarketing calls, we usually never pick up. Of course when I call or leave a message anywhere I always CQ about 6 times to see if any one will pick up..if not..Ready for text? #My dad thinks it funny, but he is about the only one.
Cheers,

I had (in Morse) QRZ? QRZ DE W8FAX/W8DLT K on my answering machine for awhile at about 18 wpm. My ham friends loved it, the telemarketers who were live callers were lost, and my wifes friends thought I was nuts, as usual..............

...great idea from w8fax ....think i will put that kind of message in my cell phone voice mail ( no one ever uses it any way, I aint been left a message since back around march/april of this year )...shucks sold my BEEPER since the cell phone works better than the beeper did...and half the time when i call a AMATEUR radio friend on the telephone I wind up using my call sign at leasat twice so they wont confuse ME with sum other fool... but good idea w8fax... gone to do that now..... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I've thought about a Morse answering machine message, but too many people calling here might think it's a fax line--hey, that might not be a bad idea! #Maybe they'll quit calling. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I am so tempted to do that! How about "QRL QRA? CFM TN QRX TN QSL? K"

Yup, mike in hand, ID.

Was coming back from town the other day, and a gravel truck went past me with an out headlight.
I turned the 11m rig on, and called "westbound Glacier on 202 near Fall City, got it on?" and damn near followed it with "KD7WHQ." The landlady was riding, and almost busted a gut, when she figured out the "K" that did hit the air.

And then there is Echolink. Constant ID'ing on VoIP..

Habits are hard to break..

You know what is probably just as bad? I work in a call center and I feel the need to say thanks for calling - I usually catch myself and don't say the company name thank goodness. My parents called me the other day and I did that http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif.
