Can someone tell me if using Skype to remotely access a 2m radio is legal? I (or another licensed ham) would use Skype to call my computer at my home location, which has an interfaced radio that is listening and transmitting on a local 2m repeater. VOX is used to key the radio when speaking into Skype from the remote location. Skype at the home location would be configured to only allow calls from people in the contact list (licensed hams) and accept calls from them automatically so one would not have to be at the computer to accept the calls manually. Transmitting radio would have a low volume CW IDer running constantly in the background of transmissions from Skype so the station would be properly identified. This would be for incoming calls only, stations on the RF side would not be able to make calls. The home computer could be remotely controlled using a control link over the internet in case things needed to be shut down. Would this be FCC compliant?

That's just remote control of the station, which is perfectly legal under Part 97.

Although using Skype as part of the process may be less common, I agree this sounds like a basic and completely legal remote control operation.

There is nothing illegal about it, jsut a couple of things to remember.
You are the control Op and as such you are responsible for what is said over your radio.
