VEC-896 2/6/10/15/20/40 vertical

I have read about this odd looking antenna and I'd like to know if anyone owns one and what kind luck they've had with it. #It is manufactured by Vectronics. #The obvious pros are that it's not large and is multiband, but it's omnidirectional and does not appear to have any gain.

I am not looking for inflated praise or overly negative comments. #Just an honest appraisal. #Thanks.

Well, it's a quarter wave on 15m, and on 15 and the bands lower than that in frequency it sure isn't going to show gain being smaller than a quarter wave. In fact, since it's smaller than a quarter wave it starts to show loss.

As for the claim that it's a half wave, well, we just did the math - it's not except a bit over a half wave on 6.

So does it work? I don't have one, so I can't say. But I'll tell you this. Looking at the link you sent, after 28 years of hamming, I wouldn't buy one.
