You're more patient than most of us (me included) would be. I would hold it for a couple days (maybe a week) but then after that I'd send a note. If he had 'extenuating circumstances' (family issues, traveling, etc.. of course I'd modify the timetable, but NEVER the weeks you kindly gave him. YOu are a good sport, indeed!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

The note would inform the buyer that he has until XX date to get the payment to me or the item will be placed back on the block again. Depending on his responses, I would tell him that I want a certified check, or money order by overnight mail

I used to buy and sell fair amount on EBAY and that always worked very well. Never had a problem. Couple guys that tried to play the game quickly found out I didn't want to play.

One guy gave me 'The check's in the mail!' routine and I let it go for 2 weeks. Finally at end of 14th day, I emailed and said 'Confirm you have sent certified check or money order by overnight mail by 0800 on xx (the next day). If not, or no reply unit is withdrawn from you and it goes back for sale EVEN if your funds arrived a day later.

Next day.. there was the money, overnight mail.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. Spoils it for the good guys.

Is it still for sale http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

What kind of price? Email me if wish.

On ebay I dont got with the checks in the mail stuff, After 3 days If the MONEY ORDER has not arrived I send the payment reminder and look up the buyers contact info on ebay. This is the procedure you have to follow on EBAY for a complaint. At that point EBAY gives you 7 days to wait to file a non paying bidder complaint. If during that 7 days it does not show up It goes on EBAY again. If nothing arrives in 10 days EBAY will procede with whatever their policy is,,, but by then my item is usually sold to another buyer

I am reading this on the 22nd, and you posted the complaint on the 21st. I thought you said he was comming on the 22nd to pick it up, or did he refuse to give you cash?

Do you think calling a guy a skunk on the internet because he doesn't buy something from you is right. There are a lot of people who have lost more then a sale. Now that belongs here, but a lost sale sounds more like sour grapes.

When I sell someone something, I usually place a caveat on the sale.

I am to receive payment by (set a date that is reasonable to expect postal delivery) or else I move on to the next person. Usually, I have someone waiting to hear about the initial buyer and if they then can step up and purchase the item. This "date" is agreed upon by both seller and buyer. I don't arbitrarily leave the "check arrival" date open. If they are serious, then they have the money and will buy it.

Sometimes, I tell a Seller that I can't get to the back to get a cashier's check until the weekend due to my work hours (banks are closed by the time I get off). Money orders are okay, but who wants to go to a grocery store and buy multiple money orders because they won't issue one sufficient in size? Also, sometimes it takes a bank withdrawl to come up with the money for a major item (i.e. HF radio).

You should set an agreeable date and then move on after that.

At least you didn't get ripped off as some of us have be dishonest and crooked sellers/buyers!
