I am contemplating buying an FT 1000 MP from a friend.I'm looking for a good microphone for it. Someone suggested a Heil Pro 40, actually I have got one of these on my ICOM 7800 so I know how good they are, however I don't want to fork out another 245 bucks, I want something a little bit cheaper. I read that the 781 by Heil is also a good Mike, but that looks like it needs a base. I'm looking for microphone that will fit on an adjustable arm.

I heard that the FT 1000 MP can be a little bit temperamental if you don't couple it up with the right microphone.

Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I use a MC60 on a boom and get excellent reports. Happy to meet you on the air if you would like to listen. I also have Heil HC4 & 5 to compare.

The 781 is a mic that was built for amateur use I use one on my FTdx_5000MP and it sounds very good I use with a Heil boom arm the only way to go.

I have a Yaesu MD-200 mic that is now on loan to a friend who bought my FT-2000D would not want to go back to a desk mic hers.
