Likely not his fault.
Just look out..

In fact, it may not even be from him.

If someone has the Klez virus (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.klez.e@mm.html) and your name and NU6A's name is in his Outlook or Outlook Express mail, it's entirely possible that the infected computer sent out the virus to everyone with a spoofed return address.

Several of the newer worms/virii do the same thing as well.

Don't get mad at NU6A. It's more than likely not his fault, in fact, there probably is no virus even on his machine.

Just because the E-Mail that seems to have come from him has a virus, does not mean all his E-mails do. Do you believe he did it on purpose? Like the other fella said, unless he ment to send you a bug, he most likly didn't even send the E-Mail at all. Have you gotten E-Mail from him before? Did you E-Mail him first? If so then it may be your E-Mail spreading the virus, or the one the got snagged by the search worm. Did he just E-Mail you cold with no previous contact? All these questions need answered before bring a Call sign in a derogatory way to this board. So what are the details?

No one sends virus's intentionally from their own tracable account, ever! I hope you got it under control before it did any damage. You need to notify the appearent sender so that they can disinfect their machine.

Problem is, no intelligent virus admits whose computer it's infected.

The only thing you can tell from the message you received is that whoever has the infected computer has NU6A in his address book.

You might even consider deleting your post, since this is a virus spreading mechanism that's been common for a couple of years, making this a very false alarm.

My point is that the appearent sender is not to blame for intentionally sending viruses, which is true. And that the appearent sender may be infected and deserves to be politely notified, not vilified.

Yup.
Klez-H is the most prevalent bug out there at the moment.
And just one of the reasons I refuse to have Outlook even installed on my system. Eudora doesn't have near the issues.
I'm trying to remember if Klez is the one with the built in SMTP engine.. Either way, there is one that on it's own sends email. You never see it happening.
Trend Micro has a free, constantly updated, internet based Java virus scanner. They also have a eNewsletter, so you can stay up to date with all the nasties out there.

Well I got one of the Keltz ones today. Had the header of K9 - - -@gte.net on it, as if it was from him. Well I'm sure it wasn't as I get spam either addressed to me and another ham copied or the reverse. It seems that if you have one of the old GTE accounts with your call as the address, you will get this.

Called about it and they said the old gte accounts have holes. I'm changing providers but waiting for local DSL first.

JUST KEEP NORTON up-to-date!!!

Well I just went to Klez info @ Mc Afee web info (http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=alphar) and they have approx. 27 Klez viruses. also people have a virus scanning program I have Mc Afee only that it came with my new computer. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif thing is lets cut the finger pointing, get a virus program by Mc Afee, Norton, or whomever, get a free firewall by Zone Alarm at C-Net and get Ad Aware, and a pop up blocker. there are free downloads for just about everything out there Good Luck !.

I've gotten 5 or 6 from different hams. Probably not them doing it. Just keep Norton updated and things should be fine. Larry..
