Does anyone know of any 2 meter AM activity or nets in the Northern VA area? I've Googled myself silly and I can't even find so much as a specific calling frequency. I caught the tail end of a conversation on a local repeater about an AM net, couldn't get a time or frequency.

If anyone has any info, I'd really appreciate it. BTW.....I know AM activity is pretty slim.

If you can't find one, what's wrong with trying to start your own?:p

Why not ask about it on the repeater?

I can not help you with 2m AM. I see from your QRZ profile that you are active on 6m. Have you tried 6m AM?

There is a net on 50.4 MHz at 9am on Sunday in the DC area. I have not listened to it recently, but one of the guys active in that net was on our 2m repeater a few days ago and said there are still several check-ins.

Since most of the stations are up in the Maryland area you will need a good antenna to hear anything. Give it a try.

AB9RU - After finally getting someone to answer on that repeater, he didn't know of anything about the net. He did say that a 2m AM sounds interesting.

KD8DEY - I think I might start my own ;). I just need to find the time to keep it going if I do start one. Probably on the weekends or something.

WA9ZZZ - I was active on 6m until my antenna blew down a while ago. I haven't fixed or put it back up. I do have a dipole I made for 10m that works fair on 6m. I'll give that a try.

Thanks for the input and the help everyone. 73 from KJ4NAP in Culpeper Va.

If I were in your neck of the woods, I would be game, a thought, if you do start one why not try AM vertical that way those that have the do all radios can join in, especially if you piggy back another net in the area. Sounds like fun !

If I were in your area I certainly would be game to try out 2m AM. I have a Gonset Communicator sitting here that works great - just need to find someone else to work on 2m am...

I'm glad to see some interest. My schedule is a little unpredictable, but weekends around 7-9 am is a good spot for me. Hopefully I can scrounge up some locals :D

Try checking into the Sunday Night Net on the W4AVA repeater. I believe that they sometimes do VHF SSB after the net, and would probably be game for AM. That's on Sundays at 9:00PM EST.

Also, you can always check into the NVTN on WA4TSC at 7:00PM and ask for someone to go simplex after the net.

That's a good list, however I believe there is a typo. It lists the Souther California 6 meter AM net on Sundays at 10am on 50.5. IIRC, it's 50.4 they work their AM net on. :D
