Good Day everyone,
I am running a Yaesu FT-1000MP Mark-V and using HRD software. Right now I am using a din 9 plug into the "Cat" serial port. I have no problem running the logging program and radio controls. When I try to use "Digital Master 780 I need to turn up the sound on my computer speakers so it can hear what I am sending. Can anyone help me with this? After 10 minutes of that noise I need to go to a different mode :p Not ure if I need a different cable or is there a menu option I am missing.
Thanks for everyone's in put.

Hi Ken

Why do you need to hear what you are sending? I do not monitor that when I am working digital. I also turn the volume on the rig down so I do not hear the incoming signal.
No need to listen to your transmission except when working CW.

What interface are you using? I use a SignaLink USB. I have never monitored my outgoing audio signal. If I do want to do that I use the "Monitor" option on the FT-950.

Ken,

Do you not have an audio cable running from your computer to the Yaesu? Are you using your microphone to feed audio from the speakers? Audio is not passed over the RS-232 control cable, so if there is no audio cable, that is what you need to look for.

There is a 5-pin DIN connector on the back panel of the FT-1000 labeled Packet. This is also used for AFSK modes like those used by DM-780. You can probably build or buy a cable to run from your computer to the rig. The details of this are in your manual in various places.

Alternately, you could go with a sound interface like the SignaLink USB. These function as an external USB sound card and provide a dedicated path for sound to the rig...so you can keep your windows sounds on your normal speakers, and the rig signals will be fed to/from the rig via the SignaLink. It works really well with DM780. When buying the SignaLink, you simply need to let them know what rig you have and they will provide the correct cable.

Once connected via an audio cable, you can turn off your speakers and you'll be good to go.

You should use the monitor function on the radio rather than the speakers on the computer, that way you get to hear what the radio is sending.
