The fcc has set a time and date for 60 Meters.

2.8 kc? Lets hope that some of out over zealous audio guys son't violate this and get into trouble. I hope the FCC makes this a little more high-profile.

Isn't this in the general vicinity of the Alaska Emergency Channel? Also, will these channels be open to General and up or Extra? I didnt read the whole article, my attention span is as long as a mealworm...
The nice thing about this is you can score an old Motorola Micom and do some SSB with these rigs, they are configured to this part of the HF spectrum..

Yes if someone has an antenna cut for the Alaska frequency it should be fine. Power output is limited to 50 watts into a dipole. If you have an antenna with gain over that you need to use less power. It will be open to those holding a general class license of higher. The only mode allowed is USB.
you will need to calibrate the frequency of your TX and make sure you can keep overall bandwidth to under 2.8 KHz.
Refer to the recent ARRL bulletin to know what the actual phantom carrier frequency is.
Only 5 ex-government channels are to be used.
