Interesting.......... some people definitely have watched too many sci-fi movies. I'll be listening for this on "Coast to Coast AM" (Art Bell's old show)...... always good to have laugh in the middle of the night. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I think whoever wrote/believes this needs to turn off the TV once in a while.

You mean when the 60m band (all five channels...scuse me, frequencies) open up?

Turn off the TV? #Who will supervise my kids and keep them busy? #Are you a communist? #

Turn off the TV indeed. #What other crazy ideas will they come up with next? #Blasphemy. #No TV. #Ha!
This is America, 2003. #TV is the main reason we exist. #No TV. #Next thing, he'll suggest not having a TV in the shack for when the QSOs get long and boring.

No TV? #Someone help this man!

(For the record in case anyone is offended, I am aged 41 years. Thus I am of the age where my childhood friends were all seriously addicted to the idiot box. We got our first TV when I was 11. I never got addicted to the thing, thank goodness. At age 12 I was working on my ham ticket which arrived shortly after I turned 13. I never had time to get hooked on the boob tube. To this day I don't sit and watch the thing. My kids do, though their viewing selections are carefully monitored. Certain things are just not allowed on in this house. And I watch Flyers' hockey games and sometimes Jeopardy. That's it. So I hope nobody was taking my above comments seriously.

American society has been so seriously shaped by TV that I think we may be in trouble one day. People watch TV and can't tell the difference between reality and what's on the tube. We are a society that still writes to Marcus Welby MD for medical advice. One where old ladies in NY City assault soap opera actors on the street for the misdeeds of their TV characters. Yes indeed, TV can be a very bad thing if we allow it to be so. And for the most part, we have.

One day when the face on the TV says "rise up, rise up," enough people will. Then I will know I was right to stay away from the thing as a kid.)

I think they need to leave the TV on!

It is much safer to have people who believe this type of thing at home, glued to the TV and constituting little threat to those of us out gawking at the world.

Heh..

I don't own a TV. Don't watch it. Lost one in a divorce six years ago and never replaced it. I don't miss it, either.

I am with you, N0XU. Uncle Sugardaddies Army sent me to a country with no TV in 74. After a year with no TV, I came back to the states, turned it on. And off. I didn't realize how stupid it was until I went without for a while, then saw it with fresh eyes.

I wonder about people who don't have time to get things done. If the TV smoked, how much would they accomplish before they got it fixed?

I get a chuckle every time I think about the ones complaining about idiots and garbage on the ham bands and then sit down and turn on the TV to get their "fix" of garbage. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Don't get me wrong, I DO own a TV. A oldie 13" that has the 2 dials to change channels with and "rabbit ears"antennas. Last time I turned it on was on 9-11. I also get a chuckle from the ones doing everything they can to save $ on radio equipment but have no problem paying $100 + every month for cable/sattelite for a better "garbage high". http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif Part of the money I DONT spend on TV has let me set up a pretty nice station. Take that TV equipment you have, put it on E-Bay,use that money along with what you spend every month for cable/sattelite and build up your station or better yet take the family out more and spend more time with them. Think of the many many extra hours of quality time that can be spent with the spouse and family instead of sitting around waisting time watching the boob tube. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif J.M.O.

But I love the tube sooo much... #It really listens to me when no one else will... HA!!!

I actually heard that on TV once. #I really don't understand how people can get all caught up in TV. #Sure I have my favorite shows that I watch, but if I miss one, oh well. #Probably for the best anyway.
