Meanie!

If she wants to really jump in with both feet, she should come to L.A. and attend something like the Electric Daisy Carnival at the L.A. Coliseum.

250,000 kids, 25 stages, 70 bands, people like Rihanna and Madonna show up unexpectedly (just because they can). 48 hours of mayhem.

My kids go to that stuff. I wish it wasn't so expensive.:p

If it stops her going to see that beiber boy then you have done her a favour....

why can't all kids like decent music like mine do..... nothing wrong with hendrix, sabbath, ac/dc, clapton and floyd... and they are 10 and 11 years old.

K7KTI need to do her own thing, she is buisy figuring out what kind of person she will become.

Some opposition to me is healthy, and good.

Hopefully she will not become like me........

*scratching head* I thought those performers were waaaaay older than that.

LOL!

I hope neither of my daughters turn out like me.....

fat, cynical, sarcastic and male....

I know what you mean though. My eldest moves into her high school in september.... she is no longer a little girl but a young adult.... Damn, it makes me feel old already...

Amen. Mindless canned commercial pop-junk brought to you by the Disney/Nickelodeon/MTV corporate money machine (not that I'm anti-corporate or anti-capitalist mind you). Problem is there is no imagination or art. 20+ years ago corporations made plenty of money selling REAL music from musicians who actually wrote their own lyrics and played instruments.

But the Jackson 5 and David Cassidy came along and it went down hill from there. fleh.

(Not ANY disrespect or insult meant to the OP or his daughter. It isn't a reflection on him or her that there isn't better music to listen to out there)

Hendrix has been dead a very long time and the others are getting there.;)

But some of their music will live on forever, like the Beatles, the Stones, and even Frank Sinatra!

Billy Joel told me he knew he "made it" in the industry when he heard "Piano Man" played in an elevator. "I knew I could be elevator music one day. I just wish it would have happened after I was dead.":p

My kid plays LZ, The Who and Pink Floyd in her marching band. :)

Today she rode with me (and 50,000 of my biker pals) down Steel Horse Alley on my custom Harley.

I have been blessed with a fantastic daughter. She will try anything that I do that she thinks she will like, no matter how daunting the task.

At age 11 she became a Tech and less than a year later passed her Morse exam with me.

She has done Security for the Blue Angels (the day of her 12th birthday).

She also has a great sense of humor, knows mine inside and out and I am not so sure she would have fell for your trick. Not because it wasn't a good trick, it was a great one, but I don't think I could have kept a straight face while she read it.

:D

I second that, meanie.

If I did that to my daughter she'd cut my coax... :D

Hope she enjoys the concert.

"Kids ! What's the matter with Kids today ? ? ? "
"Why can't they be like we were - PERFECT in every way?"
"Oh WHAT'S THE MATTER with KIDS TODAY ? ? ? "

( Bye Bye, Birdie )

It goes back much further than that. I seem to recall some writing by Homer, or one of those other "Hi-Falutin Greeks" that echoed the same sentiment ! I'll get back to you on the reference ;)

Those lines have been uttered since the begining of the human race.

Jay-z is the Sinatra of today.

Rehanna is the Doris Day of today.

It's a generation thing. And an age thing.

What they, the kids of today don't know is that they will be saying the same things about the kids of tomorrow.

I think today's kids are pretty cool. At least the ones I have met, and that has been many.

Of course, it helps to temper my judgment when I think about what I was like at their age. I was no angel, nor were my friends, but we all grew up and turned out fairly decent.

Most of us live in glass houses and should not cast stones.

I agree with this, however I do find that kids today are bombarded with media influences that are very subtle (and some not so subtle) and CRAFTED in such a way that many of us are blind to.

Take a look at the programming on the Disney Channel. Pure junk. Don't get me wrong, the overall theme of the shows are reasonably kid friendly. Kids in situational comedy that kids can understand. Cartoons and shows that appeal to childhood. It is the young actors and actresses that are employed by Disney in a VERY DELIBERATE manner, the dress that they make them wear, the high heels, cocktail dresses, make-up, etc particularly on 13, 14 year old girls. They start 'em out as "tweens" and get them on a show. They have screeners and producers pick them out based on body type, facial features, easily predictable attributes that eventually will equal sexuality. by the time they are 13,14,15 years old, they have them dressing in ways that might make a prostitute blush. I might sound like a fuddy duddy, but I tell you I am VERY GLAD that I only have boys. I do not envy anyone raising a daughter these days with all the influences.

And these singers and performers, Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, etc. are all of the Disney formula...and look what happens when they "graduate" to adulthood. Lohan, Spears (both sisters), Aquillera, Duff, etc. Automatic sex-symbol starlets rather than serious actresses, with few exceptions. Sad really.

Maybe not....

Nah, go to a Michael Tesh or Yanni concert: the kids (and adults) will fall asleep long before the last note is played; they won't get into any trouble if they've dozed off!

Well, the prank was great... something I would have done myself if mine were going to concerts....

trouble is, my kids both know my photoshopping skills so they would instantly suspect me of tampering....

Well done to your girl getting her tech at her age. My 11 year old takes her UK foundation test in about 2.5 hours from now..... Then you will see a request for a new m3/m6 call being added to the database in few days.

I tried to go to the last YANNI concert that came to San Diego, but the Tickets were too pricey!! Well over $125 each!!

We will have to have her and Kati schedule a contact, maybe on Echolink?

I'll have to install it but I have no problem with that!

Storm has been on air as part of her training using my callsign, as well as the club call. She already is a reasonable phone op although how she will cope with the 10w restriction on her own call after using the full power under mine will be something to see!

I'll let you know what her call is in a few days, depending on how quick the licensing people are at processing the pass slip. I know she will pass, the club has a 100% pass rate and they only submit people who will pass. It has taker her 4 weeks of training to get this far..... The club also has the distinction of having the youngest licence in the UK, a girl called Kyla who was 7 when she passed the foundation.
