Here in SDG, the city council decided they didn't like people getting drunk on the Beach, so they set up a countywide BAN on Alcohol. NO LIQUOR WHATSOEVER allowed on the sand, boardwalk or parking lot.

That really bummed out the Beachgoers, as they wanted to PARTY!!!

So they found a Loophole.

IF you are in the water, offshore, they have no jurisdiction. So, the students who thronged to San Diego came up with an alternative.

FLOATOPIA!!!!

All the folks who want to get drunk get on floating raffs, and go out into the water to drink. They tow their beer out on raffs, and everyone has a grand time. The police and lifeguards stand on shore waiting for anyone to walk onto the sand with a beer can. Then they can be arrested. But as long as they stay offshore, there isn't a thing they can do!

Thousands and THOUSANDS of college students are whooping it up on the waves. Since there is a big scare of going to Mexico with all the killings and kidnappings going on there, San Diego was decided to be the Spring Break town of choice for West Coasters.

PARTY HARDY!!! Just don't bring your beer ashore!!!

Sounds like a great place to set up a Boatweiser distributorship. I don't know why they didn't prohibit alcohol sooner. Prohibition worked so well the first time.(rolling eyes)

The L.A. beaches have had an alcohol restriction for years...not that anyone really paid attention to it.

Maybe they're being more diligent now, I don't know.

Where's the picture of Pat and a SX-88 on the raft??

You could hide the beer in the cabinet!!

You could post this sign to keep them out of the water:

That should do it!!:D:D

Makes the TV news, too. LINK (http://www.10news.com/news/22860115/detail.html)

My Dad spent the last years of his life at a trailer-park/retirement community on Mission Bay, what is apparently now the the DeAnza Road RV Park. The residents had been fighting off a pending 1999 eviction to build a hotel... when he died, the trailer went back to the lenders, but it was a very nice place to retire while the money lasted.
