I like my Kenwood TH-F6 but the speaker is so small it is a bit tinny. Is the audio quality on the speaker-mic any better? I've been thinking about buying one hoping it would be an improvement.

Not really, its a good communications speaker, tinny, but gets the job done. It is very convenient, however, but you wont mistake it for your home stereo speakers.
There is an external port on the bottom for earphones, istr. I have not figured out what size plug it is, but its small.

The speaker mike is quiet in my opinion. I would suggest the earphones if you are not using it in a quiet environment.
