System:
E Machines T2958
Windows XP Service Pack 3
No External Modem
DSL Service from Phone Company

I am having trouble connecting to the EchoLink Servers. The firewall test says my UDP connection fails.

I researched on Portforward but could not find any specific information for routerless connections. I enabled the EchoLink connection in my Windows Firewall and assigned it a port of 5198. I also assigned static IP addresses yet am still not able to connect.

Has anyone had this issue?

Thanks,

I bet it was the DSL modem provided by the ISP. Most of them block the ports needed by Echolink, and the ISP never bothers to warn you that they have a firewall in their own modems.

probably set up wrong in the router or had to open up the personal firewall in windows.

If you are using a DSL modem your should have received a program to go internal to the setting of the modem. Should be the same with a cable modem. Could be a program as well that can be used to control the modem

The URL that should be the default is: 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.1
You should be able to login as admin and the pass word should be admin
(read the docs that came with your modem).

When you get inside the modem then you need to set the UDP ports.
It is not hard.

I have used the DSL modem from Windstream and the routers from Linksys on Echolink with no problem after getting the UDP ports set.

Remember it should be in the docs.

If you need help with setting the UDP ports PM me. Maybe I can talk you through it.
