How many silent air-time minutes come with it?

I have noticed in the last couple of years that many toung people have a cell phoned glued to their ear so to speak. If cell phones cause brain damage, they will be the testing group for certain. My Nephew is constantly talking to his girl friend and in fact has to be reminded when he visits that it is rude to be among others and use the cell phone. My question is, how can parents afford the $80 or more for a child to use those things?

I limit phone useage by not giving out my number to anyone except my dog.

Removing the battery helps too.

Sure is quiet around here.

Hi Everybody

In fact, behind every technological development has created some problems. But today technology is not without experiencing.

Nevertheless, I like amateur radio. I like my HF amplifier.

like them ;
because it is not next to my ear
Not on my head
7 / 24 not on my side
7 / 24 is not clear

God bless us

Remember when IMTS mobile fones had the antenna mounted on a car roof where you were shielded by sheetmetal ! (you have to be an old fart to remember those safe VHF fones ) :D

Didn't the U.S. Coast Guard pull these energy saving lamps out-of-service at their locations because of RFI? I use them throughout the house, and haven't noticed any change in my noise floor on any band, so what part of the electromagnetic spectrum are they radiating in?

so what part of the electromagnetic spectrum are they radiating in?

Joe

Hopefully the visible part. If not, hope they are within warranty.

I maintained the base stations & terminals for the (then) local GTE company. We had both VHF & UHF. Dunno what the mobile units had for power but the base stations (barely) made 100W output.

IIRC, modern cellular handsets are in the hundreds of milliwatts. The cell site tells the mobile to QRO or QRP, depending on what it sees from the handset.

I had to laugh out loud on that one… I don’t think his Narda monitor measures that part of the spectrum. Maybe it does.?

Trivia: Narda came out with the first meter designed for microwave ovens (2450 MHz), cost about $1,100. I got the first one. Later Reed Holaday produced a very good and much cheaper one. Reed was a Ham but I don't remember his call. A good friend of mine.
