I am trying out Win-EQF and find it is straight forward and easy to use. It is not free: the author expects to be compensated eventually.
I will look at others before I get too may QSOs logged so changeover will not be too time consuming.

Win-EQF is a nice program I used it for many years.
I have used Win-eqf since becoming licensed in 2004. I have over 15,000 q's logged on it. I use it as my general logging program for DX and other stuff. It has a great amount of versitility and is a very good general logger. I use N1MM for contesting and after the contest, I convert to adif format and send it to the Win-Eqf program. Works great
I've used this program since its MS-DOS days. Every Windows and DOS version has been superb. It would be hard not to recommend it. :)

WIN EQF is a very nice little logging program that works well. But in my book the price is too high for this software. If they would lower the price some probably would sell more.

How much is it, I've not been able to find out much.

I have used the EQF series from its startup. I think its about 29 bucks for your lifetime. Pretty cheap for me, I expect to live a long time. I have had computer crashes, and have lost the program several times. (I have a backup Now) The Guys at EQF have always replaced the registered version for free with no problem.:D Happy registered user here.

Being discontinued 12/31/09. Don't buy.
I just checked the eqf-software.com website and I find no mention of Win-EQF being discontinued. I don't know about the DOS version Log-EQF, however.
New .rig files are regularly added as newer radios are released. Modifying an existing .rig file for just released radios usually is easy using a text editor.
I am a registered DOS- and Win-EQF user. I've used EQF loggers since its early versions on DOS. It is easy to use, reliable, and can export log files to other programs or upload for LoTW, contest, or e-QSL credits.
I use Win-EQF for all of my logging including contests. It also integrates DX-Telnet very nicely to make a handy way to click on a spot and automatically qsy to that station's reported freq.
While it doesn't have the rich features beyond logging that the free Ham Radio Deluxe, it works superbly for logging as-is. And, it will run very nicely on older Win 95, 98 and ME platforms.

What's New
Win-EQF - Going QRT After 20 Years:
There aren't many ham radio programs that have lasted for more than 20 years, like Log-EQF. It has been a labor of love for most of that time, but sadly it's time to move on and let younger programmers fill the void.
There will be no further sales of Win-EQF "Log-EQF for Windows" after December 31, 2009. I will continue to provide technical support for at least one year after that, but there will be limited updates to the program.
I'm sorry if this decision disappoints some of you, but the constant work involved in supporting a Windows program for ham radio has become too time-intensive. The advent of Windows 7 was probably the last straw, on top of the never-ending changes required to accommodate new rigs, rotors, keyers, clusters, modes, contests, awards, callsign databases, etc.
I want to thank all of my loyal users for the many years of support. It's been a real pleasure meeting some of you at hamfests and club meetings. Some of those eyeball QSOs have turned into lasting friendships. In particular, many thanks to John Shelton, K1XN, for his help in recent years to keep Win-EQF in distribution and the the DXCC prefix list up-to-date.

WIN-EQF has announced that they are going qrt after 20 years. Go to the website and click on what's new. I have used it for many years and appreciated their support and the ease of use.

I've been using EQF for almost 15 years. It's a good thing I started using another logging program before I found out about this.

This is from the Win-EQF website:
A message from Tom, N3EQF:
At the end of 2009, sales of Win-EQF have been halted. After more than 20 years, the support effort required to maintain the logging software has by far out-weighed new purchases. It might be that the shareware concept of "test driving" the software was too generous, especially when the economy slumped. Regardless, it has been a labor of love, and I want to thank the many hams who supported me over the years. I will continue technical support of Win-EQF at least until the end of 2010. It is also still possible some other programmer(s) will take over Win-EQF and develop it further.

Anyone wanting to sell their copy of Win/EQF??
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=WIN+EQF
I went to the site and they no longer have the product. Since 2009 !
I had EQF-log on a previous computer but it would not run on a replacement computer I got.
I spent so much time typing into the computer log , I had little time to get on the air.
Went back to pen and paper logbooking.
