p.s. for those code addicts out there that say youth don't like the code, i love it and will use it often and i'm 15. especially since another ham gave me a ten-tec century 21. [for people that don't know thats a cw only rig]

I wish you both luck - I know that if you studied hard you'll have a cool head and pass with ease.

kc2keg, your doing fine, at least your using the same program that i used. the test i was givin was at 13 word per minute code speed and 5 words per minute word speed. so learning code a little bit faster than you need to helped me. but i would still keep with the g4fon program, it is the best program i found. [for sale or free]
if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Thanks Sam...so do you mean I need to be able to copy at "Full" code speed to pass the test? Or "Half" speed is just fine?
Thanks and best 73's

if you mean half speed as in 5 wpm word speed, yes thats all you need. if you are using g4fon and set the settings at the lowest speed [15 wpm code speed 5wpm word speed] thats all you need to pass the test. one thing i found out is that you should try to surf the net and try to find "mock" qso's to listen to. it realy helps.

Try: www.aa9pw.com
That's a good place to listen to "mock" QSO's. You can also listen to specific letters, numbers, and punctuation.
You don't even have to download anything. You can listen to it on the web.
You set the speed and listen to the QSO.
Hope it helps! I used it when I was learning the code.

Sam, Good job on passing the test.

Don't forget to get a straight key and code oscillator so you can practice sending. That's an often-overlooked way to increase your code speed!
Send from a book... Send random thoughts. But SEND.
It works. No lie.
