Please we need to Please we need to ignore the troublemakers on the threads. When we respond it just makes for a longer thread and we start the name-calling and we all know to whom I speak of.
So lets just treat this like a radio and ignore the troublemakers.

If we are going to ignore the BAD guys and only talk to the GOOD guys how are we suppose to know the difference. I would suggest you post a list of the authorized names and call signs that are approved for conversation . Will it be those with call signs only ? Also is there a time limit on how long one is allowed to hold a call sign before being added to the list. Maybe the list's could be made up in 1/4 annual spans, so any one licensed over 3 months would automatically be moved to the next list, that would be the way to keep track of all these nasty dirty old farts who have been around the block a couple of times. After all you can't take a chance of possibly gaining any knowledge, just like CW, since you obviously won't be using it there is no reason to learn or attempt to retain it. And what about those who do not have a call sign, will they be assigned to a different list ? Is there going to be separation by age or Technical expertise, be careful some one with common sense could sneak on to the GOOD guy list . After all this is NOW a FUN HOBBY and one has to be careful that some OF doesn't slip a small amount of knowledge into it and ruin it for everyone .You might break the list down to those who are actually on the active Ham Bands and those who work 2 meters and those who have never been on the air. Will each person be required to check the list on the Internet before making a contact on the air ? How will the mobiles be handled, will they have to be certified to only operate 2 meters with a HT,or can they use a standard mobile ?
If some one was to acknowledge that this is the Web and has no relation to Ham Radio will they be banned to the BAD guy list?
ENJOY!! Have fun with what little bit is left.......73, # ORV

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ....that is all this forum needs is MORE RULES....we need MORE rules to go by....MORE rules.. shucks if I dont like reading a post by one individual, the good lord gave me the intelligence to scroll down to the next post and read it, and he also gave me the intelligence to turn the computer off and do some thing else ( in some cases, ANY THING else ) than what I was doing. It appears that " old fashioned COMMON sense " left back in the 20 th century for some folks...you will notice that I make FEWER posts now than just a few weeks / months ago... about any topic at all. GOD bless all of you who read this post, and those who did not for various reasons. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

As they say, "If you can't stand the heat"........
Seriously though, we are all only bound by our own sense of decency and decorum, at least until we sink to the point that Glen gets tired of us and cuts us off or bans us.
I try to be nice and helpful and sometimes humerous, #until somebody slams me, then I only try to slam back if I can do so from a standpoint of superior intellect and wit. If the other person is smarter than me I leave well enough alone. But, if you have to resort to 4 letter words, you have already lost the battle.
Another thing is I don't get mad. If you get upset over something on the screen of a box on your desk, you just might have a problem in the real world. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Who's the bad guy? Things have been pretty tame here the last few days, I haven't seen any dedicated ripping of persons...Maybe we have trouble differentiating over-sensitivity to brute force in the thread?

I wonder. Is this one of the ones I'm supposed to ignore?
Hmmm, could go either way, I suppose.

This is, and always has been the problem with BBS's on any site. There will always be someone that wants conflict without intelligent debate or just plain old mudslinging garbage talk. I have noticed that on this site most of it does get ignored and eventually it drops down to the bottom of the list and then disappears into the archives. I wouldn't worry too much about it. This particular forum being more opinion oriented and less amateur or tech talk exclusively seems to draw out more of this senseless fighting. If there is one thing I learned from my old days in ,everyone's favorite topic on here, CB, it's ignore it and nine times out of ten it goes away. I rather enjoy a good debate of opposing sides as long as it doesn't resort to the "four letter word" type of mentality that sometimes happens. And kudos to the QRZ staff for providing a forum, amongst radio forums, that allows for other topics, a brave venture on the often times scary internet these days. Keep up the good work.
As far as the rest goes, ignore it, and trust me, it will go away, at least most of it. 73 - KB9YCO - Brett
