Early this week my Elmer Al Bryant (K8TCB) became SK. I earned my Novice (KA8RWH) in '83 under Al's guidance. He was wheelchair bound, but that did not slow him down in amateur radio.
Time passed and I let my license expire. In 2001 interest renewed and got my Technician and General. I tried to get in touch with Al to let him know one of his students had succeeded (many years later). His number was unlisted. I finally gave up. Now I wish I had continued to try to find him.
Sorry to ramble, but my wife does not understand how I can feel bad over someone that I knew for a short time so long ago. #No one but the amateur community understands the attachment to a good Elmer.
