I really am not very educated with the equipment, is there anyone out there that lives in Huntsville or knows someone that I could message?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not in Huntsville, but what can we do for you?

If possible, try to attend one of the meetings of the Huntsville Amateur Radio Club (HARC). They meet every Friday night, 7:30, at the Red Cross building on Washington Street. For more info:

There's a very good chance you'll meet up with the folks that will be able to help you out.

Good luck and welcome to the hobby!

Don't be intimidated because of your age. I am sure the Huntsville club will be glad to have a new Ham in the ranks and you'll have more help and advice than you could ever expect.

Congrats on your ticket!

Hi KJ4NIA, HARC is a great club. I attended meetings there for six months or so last year and only stopped because "real life" got in the way. Wife, kids and night classes will do that! But they are a great club, good people and you will be sure to find some helpful folks there. Did you check out the hamfest a few weeks back?

I'm in Huntsville too, you can feel free to email me (ki4vup@gmail.com) if you like... but I've only had my license for 2 years and still have a lot to learn, myself! But I'd be happy to give you more info on HARC or see what I can do. The folks at Gigaparts are pretty knowlegeable as well.

Yup, I was at the Hamfest. Were you? I had a really good time.

No, my wife had a party she was throwing for some coworkers so I helped her get ready for it. Also a good excuse to not tempt yourself to spend money :) but I've gone the past 2 years and yes it's a great event.

I got my TS-530s last year for $150, with spare tubes... it works great!

Have you checked out the HARC meetings yet? http://www.harc.net/
