I don't think I would start going on the air with it unless you have paperwork, Your license in hand, or until at least it is posted on QRZ or the FCC ULS postings.

Anyhow: Congratulations!!!

Congratulations to you. And as long as you are listed in the ULS (which you are), you may operate. You don't need to wait for the paper.

Good luck and good dx!

The thing with IDs here: 1 per e-mail address. You will need to use a different e-mail account to get a new QRZ account, I recommend kd5vhf@hotmail.com

Congrats and if you haven't made a new email, and don't want to, I just posted in this Q and A section, with a topic of Changing Account Name, or email editor@qrz.com (pretty sure thats it) and request that it be changed.

Fine job! Why get rid of the call? The VHF sounds great and is certainly related to radio. It does not peg you as a technician class operator. I know of a lot of old timers here who spend most of their time and money persuing VHF, UHF and higher frequency contacts puting together some pretty fancy antennas and rigs. 6 Meters is a blast when the band opens, and it happens in any phase of the sunspot cycle.

I've got a feeling you will get into HF very soon and hope to talk with you on 40 meters or any band when you get there.

It is perfectly legal to operate when you show up on the ULS database. The wonderful world of computers HI HI.

If anyone else needs to find out if they have a license to operate, or have their upgrade proccessed, try this URL:

Search for my license (http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/searchAmateur.jsp)

I have used this a few times in the past year and got on the air within an hour of the FCC posting the information, using my new frequencies. You only need to type in your last name, town, state, and zip and be sure it has you correct first name. It might be a good idea to type in your VE information as well.

Thanks everyone! It really is nice to have a call # now and I think it's a pretty neat one for "luck of the draw" http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif The good folks at QRZ changed my forum name for me so I'm set up now. I don't have a thing against VHF/UHF and I will get set up for it eventually but my main goal and desire right now is HF. A few weeks ago I decided that my first contact would be a friend of mine in CA and I'm "sticking to it".Even if I do find a great deal on a dual bander, my first contact will be on HF. Another "push" I've set up to get me to knuckle down, study and get the General. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Thanks again and I look forward to making contacts with some of you in the future. You've got a good goal. I could never force myself to wait like that. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
I wish you luck on your upgrade to general. I just got my general class ticket in the last month.

Hope to talk to you on the air one day!

Congratulations on the new ticket! I received mine in December and love it. One word of caution though, THIS IS ADDICTIVE!!!

Congratulations! I just received my General lic. in the mail yesterday. After being a tech. for 10 years, I finally wanted to upgrade enough that I studies, and passed the theory and code. It was worth the work!
