Does anyone have any experience with this new model verticle antenna?
I am considering purchasing one because of it's size and power rating.
But I'm having a hard time, getting any insight from someone that has one.
Any info would be helpfull. Thanks.

Steve,
I can't speak for the 18-AVQ, but I can tell you that I have been using a 14-AVQ (similar antenna, just 40-10 mtrs only, no 75/80 mtrs) for many years and it works pretty well. Mine is ground mounted, with only 6 or 7 radials under it. I know my ground system is lossy ("flat" SWR across the bands, should not be flat), but it makes a lot of QSO's, both domestic and DX. I find it to be a very effective antenna that is easy to install and almost invisible. Mine is out in the back yard next to the garage, and the only way anyone can see it is if they are actually in my yard. With a coax "choke" at the feedpoint, no RFI issues, either.
P.S. I'm not far from your QTH (if QRZ is right), as I am just west of Harlem Ave. and just north of I-90.
P.P.S. You can also check the reviews at eHam.net for all the HyGain antennas.

Stephen,
Thanks for the help, tried dipoles and a inverted vee, but they didnt work well.
Will give the hygain a try. I can hear stations but have trouble working them.
Thanks again.
