My name is HanYan, English name is Harry.I am the student of Shanghai JiaoTong University. I have been a ham for eight years. My callsign is BG4AGY, and I'm also the chief member of BY4BZB, a great club station in Shanghai China. In one month or two, We will start a new club station in our school. Thus, any recommendations on how to run it efficiently are pretty welcome.
We are seeking generous donations as well, printings and books about amateur radio will be much helpful to us. If your have second hand equipments which you no longer need to use please make it the best use by sending them to us, where they will be the foundation of our club station.
Thanks for your great help!!

I am involved in a project jointly supported by the U.S. Department of Education and the Chinese Ministry of Education which involved using technology to improve foreign language learning in China and the U.S.
At the University of Illinois, we are beginning a project that uses FCC Part 15 certified FM transmitters (very low power) to broadcast foreign language programs obtained via the Internet to the main campus on broadcast band FM.
I would like to promote such a system in China, permitting Chinese educational institutions to broadcast programs such as the BBC and NPR on their campuses, but I have no idea (nor do my non-ham Chinese colleagues) if this is legal in China.
So I would be very grateful is someone could let me know if there is something similar to Part 15 regulations in China which permits unlicensed broadcasting on the AM and/or FM broadcast bands using very low power transmitters.
--Gary N9MJZ
P.S. #I also have a Chinese amateur radio permit good for another year. #I never to the chance to use it on my last visit to China in September, but I'm hoping to be able to do so during my next visit in the Spring.

To ON4RU Mar,
All direct QSL requests for above contacts have been
being answered. You can send a direct request to my
address in qrz.com.
To BG4AGY Han Yan,
Nice to see you here, though we may never worked on
the air. I operated frequently at BY4AJT long time ago,
the club had a TS-440S and three 3 ele mono band Yagis
for 10m/15m/20m band at that time, this is a very beautiful memory to me, #but since then I haven't #heard this call from my personal station for long long time. I'm
glad that you're there now, I believe as JiaoTong university, for one of the best and #most famouse university of China, BY4AJT will do good job again as it
had been doing well and got very famouse in the DX world in 1990's. Good Luck and Good DX!

Nice to see that BY4AJT is still active running by you. Same memery as BA4DW's, sweet time during 1991 - 1997. A lot of clubs operates while many memebers enjoyed. How many memebers are there right now in BY4AJT?
Look forward to a chance of visiting your club again. Is it still located in Fa Hua campus? 8-)
Ham radio meets big challenge from Internet recently. People don't need to work hard for a license of ham radio, just plug and dial. They do the same thing as Ham radio, chating with foreigners or making friends via instant messager (ICQ, etc.).
Really wish your team would keep moving in ham radio field.
Don't forget to send your invitation when you celebrate something for BY4AJT.

Hi. #Good to see all of you here. #I tried to set up a
ham station at a university in Thailand a few years
ago and had the same problems... no equipment.
As a suggestion, something I was thinking about but
never tried... you might "create" somekind of Special
Event that reflects the nature of your city or area, and
request donations of equipment from some of the major
manufactures. #Even use pictures of the equipment on
your QSL cards if need be (don't ask, let them suggest
it).
May work, I don't know, but worth a try.

You are really doing a great job!
Thank you for your effort to help our students in language learning. There must be something similar to Part 15 regulations in China. I will check it and tell you a little bit later.
In some schools here in China, we have our own radio broadcasting system. The wireless one often has a very low power which enable us to receive the programmes inside the campus. For example, the programmes in our school consists of BBC, VOA and other English listening material. But not all the schools have the system like that.
Welcome to China, especially Shanghai. Please contact me when you come. I will arrange for your operation in our club station with your license. Mail me with detial about the plan you visit China this spring.
