Thank you for applying a sane, sensible, and intelligent response to this subject. Vehement rants and raves make us all appear to be the anal-retentive freaks the hardcore CB'er's portray us to be.
I drive a class 8 truck in my occupation and have HF, VHF, UHF, and CB radios permanently installed in my vehicle. In rural Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas I can seldom raise anyone on 2 meters, but there is usually a local CB'er who is willing to give directions or call roadside assistance for me. When I last tried to get local information on 2 meters and found a live person all I recieved a rude and snotty remark about how he was 85 miles away and hence wouldn't know about such a place.
