Hello All,

Looking for an Elmer or anyone who likes to chase powerline noise etc and would be willing to teach me a few things. I have what I believe to be powerline noise which gives me an s5 to s9 noise level across the entire ham spectrum. The noise is the worst from 15 meters to 160 meters. I have used my Arrow Yagi to try to isolate the noise but I am not confident enough in my findings to contact the power company. I also believe I am getting interference from my next door neighbor but I do not believe it is enough to be causing my problem. I am located near Clackamas, Oregon. Any help is appreciated.

JR, have you eliminated your own house first? You can do that by pulling the circuit breakers in your house while you listen to a portable radio that detects the noise. If the noise goes away when you pull a breaker, find out what's on that circuit.

I also believe in trying power line filters. I've had good results with one I built.
You can buy industrial line filters fairly cheaply, and MFJ has a commercially built 'brute force' filter.

Hello and thanks for the reply. Yes I have, I killed the main feeder into the house and ran off of battery power with the same interference. I will look into the filters though. At this point I would really like to find the culprit just out of curiosity plus I would like to see it fixed if possible.

Thanks Again,
