50.125, the de facto calling frequency nowadays, wasn't always that. When I first became active on 6m SSB in 1966, the de facto calling frequency was 50.110, even domestically. "We" bumped it up to .125 sometime in the 1970's.

Doesn't really matter, does it? When the band's been open lately, I've called CQ on 50.295 and after three CQ's, got pileups of stations calling me (after I was obviously "spotted" and listed on the packet clusters). Even worked some very rare grids in northeastern Canada (3500 miles from me, but made rare by the lack of population rather than the distance) all the way up around 50.260.

Whether you use the DX Cluster or not, many do. If you have any kind of signal, "they" will find you and post you there, then you can make contacts almost anywhere.
