I am going to be building one of these RF Samplers and have been having trouble locating a suitable project box for it. Does anyone know of an online store where I can get a metal project box that is not enormous?

Sure, How about using a piece of round brass tubing of suitable size from your local hardware store. RF samplers are usually round. If you use BNC connectors, 1/2"or 5/8" should probable do OK. Whaddya think? 73 Joe W4CBJ

Sounds like a workable idea, thanks!

For projects like this I use Bud miniboxes, like a CU-3000A, availible from Mouser electronics.

I get my die cast boxes from Jones. There shipping is a little expensive because their located in Florida and use UPS.

Try your local Radio Shack. They still have a couple of aluminum mini-boxes for under $5. However, not every location has them.

Allied Electronics has a huge inventory of project enclosures. They're within driving distance of here and not long ago I stopped by and picked up their new catalog. Man, that thing makes my head spin.

Copper water pipe, and a couple end caps.

Comes in 10 foot sticks, you can make a 2M j-pole with the left over :D

Edit: also can re-arrange the limiter diodes in that sampler to make a rf-to-dc probe. I have a couple, they are very useful.

Here is a website about the dc version, and construction details for the copper pipe:
