K3RED - Boonie (http://home.ptd.net/~wcbarret/k3redbob.jpg)
K3RED - Robert E. “Booney” Donahue, 69, of Shamokin, PA became a silent key Friday, Jan. 10, at the ManorCare Nursing Home, where he was a patient for one day. He was ill for three months.
Booney was an avid ham radio operator and computer buff. #He served with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division and was honorably discharged in 1955.
He #miraculously escaped death during his tour of duty with the "82nd" when during a jump his parachute became tangled and while in a free fall he was caught by a fellow jumper. #Both were injured when they hit the ground with only one working parachute.
He held the previous call sign of N3JEL. #His web page can still be viewed at K3RED's Page (http://www.qsl.net/k3red/)
He will be sadly missed by friends, family and fellow hams. #
Best 73 Bob.
