It's obvious to me the company is Ten-Tec, and I'd guess the rig is probably a Jupiter, since their other rigs have a pretty good reputation.

I hope they are able to work out the customer service issues; they used to be a great company to work with. I've owned many T*T rigs in the past and the company solved any problem I ever had, quickly and efficiently and in a pleasing way.

Having been in the business of manufacturing electronic products for several years, I can say it is entirely possible that products pass all sorts of QA inspections and still don't work properly when received. Connectors or PC boards jiggling loose from the UPS Vibration Test, and seemingly thorough but inadequate test procedures help explain a lot. But how the vendor deals with this is critical, and if the customer experience isn't good, companies can go under pretty quickly.
