I'm seeing a lot of encouraging comments here. At least there is still good activity in some parts of Indiana - I did manage a few QSO's my last time driving through there.
Compared to our area, Dallas and Houston are pretty busy. I'm sorry to hear about a lack of SSB down there.
I live in southeast Minnesota, about 75 miles from the Twin Cities. We have two high-level repeaters, one of which provides excellent coverage of the 'tristate area' which includes parts of Iowa and Wisconsin. Due to a concentration of technology companies here (including the Mayo Clinic with its thousands of electronic devices and computers needing technicians), we have a fairly large ham population. And the repeaters sit silent most of the time.
I don't think that giving out ham tickets in cereal boxes would do anything to help this situation.
Is there any way that we can make 2 meters more interesting than it is today? Do they still do WestLink on 2 meters out in California?
