Someone just paid $100,000 to have a round of golf with Tiger Woods!!!
Can anyone top that in dollars squandered? Sure, it would be nice to play golf with Tiger, the top Golfer in the world, but for $100,000???

I will take the risk of assuming the $100k went to a charity of some sort. At least the lucky golfer got some fun out of his donation. :D

I have no problem with the rich SPENDING their money, at least somewhere along the way someone else is gaining some benefit from the money moving.
What is wrong is the very rich who have multi million dollar/pound fortunes who are too tight to use their wealth.
There are often comments in the press about Mr Millionaire so-and-so spending a fortune on a party for all his friends - so what, at least the money is moving around. What's it got to do with anyone else if Elton John has a big party.
I have no interest in golf, but I wouldn't mind someone paying for me to have a game of snooker with, say Jimmy White or a fishing trip with John Wilson.

For what it costs to play in a Pro -Am day prior to one of the major golf tournaments, this seems a bargain. And it's tax deductible too! About the only criticism I might have is there are a few decent looking female golfers with whom I'd like to play more.

There are rich folks out there for sure.
Evidently one has bid over $3 million to spend some horizontal time with a young lady DBA "Natalie Dylan" at the Bunny Ranch in Nevada...
See thumbnail.

It would have to be QUITE a Female to demand that kind of money too. From the pic I saw, I figured she was worth $30 if I was drunk enough.

::You have to see what she's been up to. She's selling off her "virginity" (allegedly) to the highest bidder, supposedly to pay for Grad school in Sacramento.
The auction's on eBay (I think), and details are on the Bunny Ranch website.
I'm not sure I'd pay extra for a virgin, unless we're discussing Olive Oil.:p

There is a lawyer here in Houston that now owns over 1000 cars in his collection. I am not talking about cheap cars but F-40s,Shelby mustangs, original Shelbys 2 seaters, 1911 Rolls Royce that won best of show at the Rolls 100 aniv. show. Hemi Cudas, Challengers, Charger 500s, COPO Camaros and a original ZL-1 Corvette are also in his collection. The same person spent over $300,000.00 on Doc Holiday's shotgun that was used in the OK coral shoot out. Over $250,000.00 on a pair of Annie Oakley's pistols she used in Bill Cody's Wild West show. Gives lots of money to charity but when he does the charity can not tell anyone. He does this so he can choose which charity he wants to support and not get calls from the ones he doesn't want to support. This same lawyer paid a hospital in the medical center here in Houston 20 Million dollars to put his name up on the building. It was a sight to see all of the doctors up in arms who worked at the hospital complaining of this deal the hospital made. The reason the doctors were upset is because the same lawyer made most of his money from malpractice suits against doctors and drug companies. The final outcome was, the hospital told the doctors who didn't like the deal, they are more then free to leave anytime they want. The hospital took the 20 million and no doctors left. So 20 million to have you name on a building might just top all of the crazy things rich people do.

For 3.7 Million, she could BUY the Grad school and issue herself a degree!!!

You want to see money being spent? Watch the Barrett-Jackson car auctions, or any of the Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred auctions, for that matter.
You want to see money being squandered? Look inside the DC Beltway!

The newspapers and TV stations in the UK are having a field day telling everybody 24/7 about how industry and the banks are dead in the water they tell us the Pound is down or up against the friggin' dollar every 15 minutes. Too much air time and no news that's the problem.
They have articles in the paper about growin' your own spuds, meanwhile half of the workers in Britain are off work for days with bad backs ! Anyway, you can buy a 50 lb sack of taters for five quid ! If anybody spends more than a few quid its a case of "Don't you know there's a recession on "
In actual fact half of the country are doing very nicely thankyou, some people are saving £3oo a month on a mortgage because of the low interest rate, cars have never been cheaper, new or used, you can buy a 10 year old car in good condition with a certificate for a couple of hundred. Gasolino is less now. The big problem is the banks won't lend money.
We have a situation where savers are getting 1% interest on their deposits, in a few years time the banks will work the trick they've been moving towards for years, you pay them for storing your money safely and they use it to make fat cats, huge obese cats !
We would all be in trouble if the rich didn't throw their money around and buying cars wholesale and storing them in a big shed is just feeding an ego

You are exactly right, Alan. I'm always amazed at how many people don't understand this simple and obvious fact.
PS (Who is Jimmy White? Who is John Wilson?) :-)

Silly amounts given away? What about 700 billion dollars (or is it 700 gazillion?) to bail out the financial wizards who pay themselves obscene salaries to manipulate "financial products"?
