Finally got my setup constructed, assembled and on the air. Two TS520s in parallel with one FT 840 in series with those babies. Fired them up and you talk about contacts - I HAD CONTACTS. First was the next door neighbor who complained about the smoke waffing over to his place...he's always complaining about something. I never got that excited when my un-guyed tower fell over on his roof and ruined my log-periodic.(I never read anything in Hints and Kinks about needing guys) Oh yeah, the next contact was the fire department, nice guys but a little too tense about a little bit of smoke. Then theres the power company, so what if the breaker box welded, I could use a bit larger breakers anyway. Next contact, the darn HOA president, she (why is always a she) said the the CC&Rs specifically stated "no series-parallel radios, only series or parallel". Who reads those things anyway. Next contact, the police (they are kind enough to wait until I finish this post). Next contact, my wife's lawyer with a restraining order keeping no closer than 500' of the same hemisphere she is in at any time.
Well, what are you gonna do - us Hams gotta experiment. I gotta idea about a plasma activated 700 mhz cavity resonator for QRP operation just as soon as I am out of Folsum. See ya.... Okay fellows, I'm ready.
