Hello!

I´m really interested in having a closer look at this project.

I´m not an ARRL member, so i cannot have acess through their website.

I wonder if anyone has already downloaded this pdf file, or even has this QST magazine?

I have several aluminium rods lying down the floor, they fit nicely on each other like a big telescopic antenna 10 meter high!

The idea is to build a 40m 1/4 wave working also on 17m as 5/8 wave.

QST April 1989, pp. 19-20

Here's how to turn a 30-meter quarter-wave vertical into a 5/8-wave radiator for the 12-meter band. And there’s a bonus: you can use the same approach to use your quarter-wave 40-meter vertical as a 5/8-wave antenna on 17 meters!

Cheers in advance,

Miguel

Humm...

I guess this was a very long shot...

Meanwhile, i´ve been doing my homework! :)

Guess i have the proper solution.

Will have a try, later if good results are obtained, i´ll post the project here.

This is my first "real" experience with vertical antennas.

Hello Bruno!

If my mind isn´t cheating on me, i believe we had a QSO on 40m maybe a couple of weeks ago!

Happy to catch you here! :)

Of course i´ll post my project here, and i´ll also email you it!

I have big expectations for this one, specially regarding 17m band! :)

You know, i´ve seen now and then, some OM´s keeping secrets of their projects, which does not occur on this forum at all! :)

The best we can do, is share our knowedge and experiencies with each other.

Because this will help everyone to improve their antenna system, and that will make contacts easier between us! ;)

The article shows how to add a loading coil to the bottom of a 40m 1/4 vertical to operate it on 17 meters. You merely short out the coil to use it on 40. The same thing applies for a 30/12m setup.
