The ISS Fan Club is proud to announce the introduction of the "ISS Achievement Award".

The IAA is the first ham-radio award issued for the ISS, it is printed on picture quality paper and is so beautiful that your radio shack simply cannot miss it.

Any info and images about this Award can be found here at ISS FanClub Web site www.issfanclub.com/iaa

Here are the award rules:

1. The "ISS Achievement Award" is given for contacting or listening to the ISS International Space Station using amateur radio. There are actually three different categories:

VOICE # # #(for 2 way QSO's)
PACKET # #(for successful sending or reading of a PMS message or using the RS0ISS digipeater)
SWL # # # # (for receiving the ISS: Voice and/or Packet)

Others categories, like SSTV, will be added when available on ISS.

2. Applications will be accepted beginning December 15, 2002. Contacts may have been made at any time since November 2, 2000

3. The applicant must auto-certify the authenticity of log information he provides by sending a normally compiled own QSL card for each category he wishes to claim (Not the QSL received from ARISS).

4. This award is available to all Amateur Radio and SWL operators anywhere in the World.
If in the applicants country SWL listeners no longer have an assigned callsign, his/her name and last name will be used.

5. The donation necessary for the ISS Achievement Award is $10 or Euro € 10. Stickers for category upgrade are available for $3 or Euro € 3. When asking for the IAA, category stickers are free.
This is a no-profit award. All collected money will be spent for printing, postage and handling costs. Any exceeding fund will be donated to AMSAT-NA.
Only Cash can be accepted at this time.

6. Applications for the award or for category update must be sent priority mail to:

Claudio Ariotti, IK1SLD
Via Montessori, 6
15033 Casale Monferrato (AL)

Hello Vinnie,

in this moment ISS Amateur Radio Station is active in Packet Mode.
Since the Crew change (Crew 6 for the Crew 5) we haven't received any Voice transmission from the Space Station. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

On December 28 Astronaut Donald Pettit has a scheduled ARISS contact with a school and we hope soon to have this Crew talking with Amateur Radio Operators all around the World.

You can use a tracking program to know when ISS is over your location to try connect the Personal Message System onboard or hear the Packet signal coming from Space.

Another way, to track the Station, is to use this very useful site:

Heavens Above (http://www.heavens-above.com)

I hope this will help you

Ciao Flavio,

many thanks for your message.

Unfortunately we don't know when the Crew will be able to operate the amateur radio station onboard ISS.

Since the arrive of the new Crew Expedition 6, we haven't seen any voice transmission from ISS, only the PMS packet system is ON in this moment.

We hope in the future to listen again the Cosmonaut and Astronauts from Space http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
