 Yesterday, Thurs., Sept. 18th, I stopped in at my local radio shop asking for a new, replacement internal speaker for my UHF Motorola P110 & was told by the service tech. that Motorola no longer supports that line of radios, either the Radius P100 or GP300.

I panicked & started hyperventilating (well, not really) & immediately went into "Google mode". Searching for Motorola dealers around the country, even in Canada. With luck, I managed to find a radio shop in an undisclosed location in Mississippi that had one, just one left.

I know what you're thinking, all Motorola 2-watt speakers are generic for all portable radios. Yes, that is true, but you have to have the special ribbon connector with the 4 pins to plug it on your radio's board. This is no longer available. I was able to order a belt clip carry bracket for it though. So Moto. is still selling the basics (i.e. belt clips, antennas, batteries, etc.), but as far as everything else, no!

I know there are a lot of GP300's being used by hams. In fact, it was the most popular radio they ever sold & perfect for the amateur bands. Then, came along the P1225, in the big scare over the FCC mandating 12.5 kHz split bandwidth for the business band. Today, it's the Radius CP150 (2 watt) & CP200 (4 watt UHF & 5 watt VHF).

These radios are nice, but no match to the GP300. So, I recommend that if you've got a P110, a GP300 or both & plan on running them forever, this can be accomplished by stocking up on as many parts as humanly possible.
