Has anyone else had trouble using N3FJP on Vista? I can use it for a while, sometimes 1/2 hr, and sometimes 3 or 4 contacts, then I get a message that Windows must shut this program down. It takes me back to desktop, I re-log in, and it does it again. This happens on more than one of our computers, all which use Vista. Scott from N3FJP says he has not heard of this before. It did not happen when we used XP. Thanks for any ideas.

I ran it on my Vista laptop for 24 hours on field day without a hitch.

I'm running his software on XP Home, Vista Home Premium 64,and on Kubuntu Linux (using Wine) without any issues.

Have you tried emailing Scott about the problem? N3FJP is usually very responsive to user questions.

Basic Microsoft Vista questions:

1. Have you installed Vista Service Pack 1?
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/bb738089.aspx

2. When you installed your software -- were you signed on as administrator?
Vista security is different from XP.
It should be set-up for any user to run application.

If you have not tried the SP1 like W9GB said, I would try that and see what you get. I use N3FJP on 2 machines with SP1 installed and both work fine. GL to you.

I would run spyware program to eliminate all spyware and adware and then rerun program to see what happens

Vista is a pain in the . I have been trying to figure this out as well.
I have it networked with 5 other XP machines in my home and it can see all five of the other computers but I cant get any of my XP machines to see the Vista box.

Good luck and if you figure it out be sure to share with us.

All MS operating systems seem to have problems that some see and others don't. XP was horrible when it first came out, Vista was pretty bad, Windows 7 seems to have some problems. All are different, but Vista is more like Millennium is going to be pretty much abandoned. I suggest that if you're having trouble with Vista upgrade to Windows 7. I have Windows 7 on my Eee. For the most part is works pretty well and runs the N3FJP software very nicely. The only it doesn't seem to do well have to do with the USB-Serial chip set by Prolific. The driver, at least on my machine, will not install. Everything else works.

Right click on the program and select "run as administrator". Pain in the butt, but that is how I cleared mine up. It was doing the same thing, but when I started right clicking and running as administrator it cleared things up.
Good luck !

Ive ran the n3fjp ACLOG in my old puter running XP for 3 years without a hitch, i bought both a new laptop and desk top running VISTA SERVICE PAC2 and it locked both of them up after installing and adding back ups, they ran fine for a few hours and then when i booted up the next morning they crashed.Luckly they would boot up in safe mode and allowed me to uninstall the program, after rebooting they both came back up running fine, I really liked the program and dont know what to do now, little over 1700 contacts that i sure dont want to put back in one at a time,,anyone have any ideas???
