Can I adapt a fjohnson desk mike to a Yeasu 757GX or FT 890. I do not have a plug or wiring diagram for the Johnson. Picked it up in NEW Condition without the plug. Looked on the net but could not find wiring info for it

I have the owners manual for the Yaesu's but I did not have a schamatic for the Johnson/Viking Mike. I need the wiring for a 7 pin and do not know the Viking diagram location.

Thanks for the Site. Will use it in the future.

Use an ohm meter to determine the connections. Usually 4 wires, 2 to the mic element and 2 to the switch (assuming it has one). Shouldnt be difficult. :)

Tom -

I have had good luck with inquiries to EF Johnson, here:
http://www.efjohnson.com/request.asp

for documentation on various EFJ devices.
Since we do not have a photgraph to look at (to identify) --any model number on the desk microphone??

You may also find that what you have is really a Shure or Telex/Turner/EV OEM microphone
with EF Johnson's brand name on it.
The Shure 444 desk microphone was used by many radio manufacturers.

I wired one up to my IC-706 a few months ago. For some reason i could not fine the stock microphone. Anyway, if i remember correctly the bare wire is GND the white is audio and the red is PTT. I may have the red and white reversed, but you'll figure that out right quick when you plug it in, hi hi. Works as a great DX mic on the 706. Does seem to pick up quite a bit of backround noise, unlike the MC-60 that is normally on it.
