Looking to trade a Yaesu VX-170 HT (2M monoband HT) purchased from HRO on 12/28/2007 plus a Mirage B-34 2M amplifier (.5W-5W input, ~35W output) for an LDG auto-tuner, preferably a Z-100 or AT-100 (I know, the AT-100 is not quite an equitable trade).

The VX-170 is in excellent condition and has no external scratches, damage, etc. It is in 100% working condition. The Mirage B-34 was purchased from the Birmingham Hamfest on May 03, 2008.

The B-34 is in excellent condition and has no signs of wear, abuse, mis-use, etc. I have the original boxes for all the equipment and manuals.

The VX-170 does not have the rubber-duck antenna. It does have a Comet SMA-24 antenna which performs significantly better with a reported gain of 2.15 dBi which will be included with the VX-170.

Please reply to this thread, private message me, or send an email to my QRZ email address. The reason for the desire to trade is I have a V8000 mobile I run and when at home I'm on HF on my FT-900 and am not playing 2 meters. Everything is completely functional and working as expected.

73,
Nathan

First, let me apologize for a less personal message, since I've received several Private Messages, emails, and thread responses for the sake of efficiency I am simply cut and pasting a response. Please don't infer a lack of civility in by doing this.

The reasons behind me wanting to sell the VX-170 and B-34 were an attempt to liquefy some disposable assets to get a Z-100 antenna tuner to be able to tune a 1:1 choke balun 'V' dipole fed by 75 Ohm coax. My father gave me a a 1:1 balun and I purchased some inexpensive (and likely poor quality) 50 Ohm coax from Radio Shack. The FT-900 is now effectively able to tune the antenna on all bands mitigating the need for the Z-100.

A good friend who is also a Ham with the license class of 'Technician' is in dire need of an amplifier to reach local repeaters because he lives in a 'hole'. I've given him the option to purchase the B-34 for a reduced price (he is a very good friend) and have elected to give him preferential treatment because I neglected to tell him it was for sale prior to advertising it on QRZ.

I'm going to go ahead and keep the VX-170 after having parted with the B-34 since the 50 Ohm coax works as desired. I'm a husband of two children with a stay at home wife and I've very limited income. I apologize for the fiasco, again, the goal was to generate funds to have a well working antenna via the use of a LDG Z-100 which has been mitigated by the proper impedance coax (The 75 Ohm was a gift).

I feel like a jerk and hope you understand,
