You always see those one in a billion odds stated when they match DNA.
Well maybe someone is just throwing numbers into the air.
I know I have posted about the misuse of the "Scientific" Method before, but it just keeps coming up. It seems that two felons have DNA so similar that they would ordinarily be accepted in court as a match.
Some want to test the CODIS database to find if DNA has singularities that can be accepted as proof or is it just supporting evidence to be used with other proofs. I hope that DNA holds up, but this does bring up a legal nightmare that should be resolved.
In the past, DA's and other LEOs have fought any scrutiny of their past cases, even to the point where the defendant was shown to be innocent and they still held onto their conviction to the point of ridicule.
