I just wanted to thank the fine folks at QRZ.com for putting practice tests online. I work 5 days a week, am on call the rest of the time, am married and have a 3 year old boy. they keep me pretty busy, and time to sit down and read is out of the question. Since you put the practice tests online, I have been able to practice during my lunch hour, (work), spare time, whatever, and today, after being licensed as an original technician at the age of 13, in 1989, finally took time to upgrade and get it done! I'll be going for my extra soon.

Congratulations !! You have just opened the door to a whole new world of Communications and life long enjoyment. And your right ,don't just stand in the doorway,strike while the iron is hot . While you are in the study mood continue on to the Extra,it is no longer that difficult and you will be glad you climbed to the top.

Way to go, I hadn't heard the term "terminal techie" since I got
myself out of that same boat back in the early 80's. I was fortunate
in that technicians were given access to the #Novice CW bands
in those days. Anyway, GO FOR IT!.

Yes, well now you have created a whole new problem for yourself. And that's finding the time to particpate in the hobby!
I had to give it up in the 1970s. Wife, kids, job, schooling. Just too much and something had to give.
Now I'm retired and have lots of time and it's really a pleasure.
Enjoy the hobby and new priviliges.
