Pentagon Official Warns of Israeli Attack on Iran
U.S. Offical Sees Two 'Red Lines' That Could Prompt Strike

Senior Pentagon officials are concerned that Israel could carry out an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities before the end of the year, an action that would have enormous security and economic repercussions for the United States and the rest of the world.

Unfortunately it is unlikely, because the "leak" does not concern proposed actions by the United States, that this person can be tried for treason. If the source is an elected official (posting not clear on that) likely there is nothing that can be done. If the source is a Pentagon employee he ought to be fired.

On the generic subject, some nation (and the only two with the ability and guts to do it are the U S A & Israel) better do something to eliminate Iran's rapidly growing nuclear weapons capability before it is too late.

If Israel is threatening to attack rest assured Bush and crew are behind it and rest assured the good ol USA will be involved...militarilly and economically. Enjoy as the economy meets it's finale.

Aw, come on...unless you are an idiot or cretin, you already knew this was a distinct possibility. What did you expect? I don't blame Isreal at all. You think Hitler hated the Jews, how about Radical Islam? Could this bring about the onset of Armageddon? You bet. I try to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, as the Bible says do, but I'm not sure many others are doing the same.

An attack on Iran by Isreal is one of the most logical things I can think of. I didn't say it was good or that I wanted it to happen, but it makes perfect sense to me.

That's my thoughts. Neither the Israelis, Arabs or Persians know exactly what to make of Obama and should the election go his way, a strike in Dec or early Jan would seem likely. Most likely only the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, I think the Russian built reactor for power generation will be off limits.

The original post that started this thread is from another Seymour Hersh story. Poor Seymour has boken some valid stories in the past, but has since fallen into the habit of writing some very off the wall stories. Always claiming he has great insider information on every subject.

Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz many times, in violation of international maritime law and a UN mandate stating that the Strait of Hormuz is indeed international waters and under control of a UN mandated control station located in the UAE, I believe?

A MLB player batting 300 is to be admired.

A journalist batting 300 is, well?

Seymour hit a couple of grand slams in the past, but hasn't been a very productive batter since.

It should be obvious to all that Natanz can't be allowed to operate unregulated and unobserved much longer. The ultimate goal of Iran is openly proclaimed by them many times, to "wipe Israel from the map". Iran's friends in China and Russia make sure that no UN sanctions against them can possibly be successful.

Dennis Kucinich claims the results of bombing Natanz will be millions dead and tremendous contamination. That indicates to me that the Iranians are much further along in the process of building nuclear weapons than we have been led to believe. Only the release of extremely enriched uranium or plutonium could produce those results.

Are you really that stupid to think that way? If/when Isreal strikes Iran the terrorist problem will only escalate, probably ten fold. All the Islamic states will condem it and blame the USA as well simply because of the relationship between the USA and Isreal. It looks as if the bible prophecy was right about the war to end the world starting in the Middle East. Hold your hats boys because it's about to start in the not too far distant future.

Oh yeah, watch what oil prices do to the economy after a strike. You think it's bad now.

Yep. It would be a real mess and the unfortunate truth is that the U.S. doesn't have the influence on Israel that most think. I'm hoping that the Israeli air exercise was only meant to be a warning to the UN to take further action quickly. But it could also be that the Israelis have little faith in support from Obama and a more Democrat Party controlled Congress and feel they must move quickly.

It won't end there. If Isreal does hit Iran's nuke facility and nothing else then it may all boil over in time. A long time. If Isreal decided to use a nuke weapon of any yield to do so I can imagine the response from the Arab world. It won't be good. Russia has interests in Iran and the region as a whole as well.Speaking of that region, just where are The Plains of Armegeddon anyway?

It's actually the Plain of Megiddo and located in the Jezreel Valley of Israel. I'm doubtful that the Battle of Armageddon is actually a modern battle that will be fought there. There were very many ancient battles fought there and hundreds of thousands have supposedly died there already. It was a critical tactical and trade route in ancient history.

I think any possible Israeli strike would be on Natanz only, strictly an Iranian facility. Hitting the Russian built nuke power plant would be a huge mistake for Israel. It's design is well known and very standard for a power generating nuke plant.
