Cobra 149 GTL

I have a classic cobra 148 gtl that I would like to conver to 10 meters. I've tried the crystal exchange method, but once the new crystal is in there I can see on my frequency counter that it does not hold a constant frequency. The radio was modified in the past for "freeband", but I'm leaving in the standard 40 channel CB switch positions when testing. Is there anything that I need to undo from the "freeband" mod to get this crystal switch conversion to work?

you will have align the vco in the pll section . this would be my first step .

Hello.The PLL MB8719 can works about 26.315mhz at 28.315mhz this the modification more know in Portugal but i view once a time a modification in the rig who coverage all 10meter band in mods.dk with a botton to shunt the decimal inputs of the PLL ic.
