I don't tell anyone who I'm voting for. A good friend and his wife kept asking how I was going to vote one afternoon, I told them that I don't tell anyone how I'm voting. They asked why, and I said that the subject of politics and religion are way too explosive of subjects and can ruin friendships. They promised and swore that they wouldn't feel any different about me if I told them and asked me some more. So I finally told them, and before I got my mouth closed again they started yelling at me telling me I'm out of my mind and how I'm voting for the wrong man and there must be something wrong with me to think that person would make a good president. They ragged on me and Poo Pood me. Well, they didn't think as well of me after that.

So NEVER tell someone how you are voting.....

Politics and religion should never be discussed in polite company. As much as I bash the other side on this site I honestly wish we didnt have politics on this form.

It creates rifts and divides friends rather than bringing us together on the topic of ham radio.

Silicon Valley was created by those eeeeeeeevil multi-billion dollar corporations.

And we all know who owns those eeeeeeeevil multi-billion dollar corporations now don't we?

And the liberals or republicans don't work for them either. It's all out-sourced labor from India.

I will be voting without enthusiasm. I haven't decided if I'll vote for Barr, McCain or William Shatner. I'm pretty disgusted with McCain due to his stance on immigration and several other issues. I'm most disturbed by his belief in man made global warming and really fear what he'll do to the economy in pursuit of changing the weather. I'm also annoyed by his antics over the past years as a "maverick" which seemed less principled and more like grand-standing.

I may yet vote for him. As much as I can't stand McCain, I think Obama would be a friggin' disaster.

It's interesting to see that so far, most people are voting against Obama (presumably for McCain, but not really important as far as my intentions for this poll go). And nobody so far is explicitly voting against McCain. I know some people who will probably vote for Obama, even though they'd prefer Hillary, and would consider their vote more against McCain than for Obama. Not here, apparently.

I don't particularly like either candidate, so my vote's a "lesser of two evils" and more of an "against" vote than a "for" vote.

I agree. His belief in global warming scares the heck out of me. Nothing scares me more than a man who believes in science. I want a president who rejects all science. Theory of gravity...REJECTED. Theory of relativity...REJECTED. Theory of evolution...REJECTED. Atomic theory ? ...REJECTED. Climate change theory...REJECTED. Physics, Chemistry, Math, Biology, ...REJECTED !!

Show me a man who REJECTS all that absurd science balderdash and I'll show you a man that should lead America onward into the 21st century as President of the USA.

Well,it won't matter anyway,as only about 20% of your population will vote anyway,as per usual,& the other 80% will still whine & moan for the next 4 years.

Seriously, though,I can't understand why people that get so upset about their rights being taken away seem to to have decided that the right to vote isn't an important one.

In Australia,we have compulsory voting,so we can't moan too much if our side gets beaten in the election.

How hard would it really be to increase your participation to say 60% for a start?

Ok,there are a hell of a lot of you,but that means also you can have more people to get the votes in.

This point has been made time and again and still it seems to miss the target with many posters. Only one of the candidates can win -- no matter how many hats or shoes are tossed into the ring -- and that winner will be one of two men if today's scenario holds through the conventions: It will be either Obama or McCain. Not Barr. Not Nader. Not Paul. Not any of the ego-driven wannabes who infect and inflame the phantasies of the politically challenged minorities who wander through some maze of imagined possibilities.

To vote for some ringer out of pique or vanity is an abdication of responsibility. Everyone posting in this thread (indeed, on this forum) should be embarrassed to have an Aussie point out that so many bitch and moan, yet so few take the responsibility that voting represents seriously enough to participate in the process. And participation includes an acceptance of the responsibility that every vote counts, even those that are not cast. Not voting is merely casting your vote for the candidate you least value. Voting for a third-party mountebank amounts to the same thing. Taking the smarmy and vainglorious course of writing in some clever name in lieu of a real candidate is boasting of cowardice. Don't take a craven course: Choose one or the other of the two main candidates and hold your nose if needed to stand on your own two hind legs and do your duty manfully.

Albert where in the Constitution does it say that this is only a two party system and you have to vote for either Rep or Dem?

If a person is suppose to vote on who is the best qualified (not obshama in my opinion), and McCain is not the right person either, then who.

It is no longer who is the best qualified, but who has the most money (look at obshama/clinton) to run ads, go here-there-everywhere and smooze the people. So if I decide to write in Ron Paul, because I agree with him more then the two major that are running, my vote is wasted. WRONG, the person I vote from might not get elected, but that person who is might see that maybe something needs to be changed because of the votes they did not get.

A majority of your fellow citizens would argue that this has already occurred, and within the very recent past. Twice. I confess membership in this group.

I do not deprecate Bush's intelligence (as do many lesser lights herabouts who could not match him wit for wit in a game of quoits), but I do challenge his wisdom and his discretion in the management of his office. If he is not an actual "moron," he has shown himself to be the political equivalent of one.

Albert where in the Constitution does it say that this is only a two party system and you have to vote for either Rep or Dem?

Have you become a card-carrying member of the Mattie Legion?

If a person is suppose to vote on who is the best qualified (not obshama in my opinion), and McCain is not the right person either, then who. It does not take Socrates to divine that one of the two major party candidates will win the office. No one can be so stupid as to assert that there are no differences between Obama and McCain, or that one or the other, however deficient in preferred ideology, is not a better choice. Given the fact that none of the other idiots (yes, intentional use following established English standards for listing comparatives) has an Arizona ice cube's chance in August to attain the office, only another idiot could make the leap of faith that a vote for any third-party (or more) candidate is anything other than a waste. May as well be honest enough to stay at home and let the none-vote register for your least favorite nominee.

It is no longer who is the best qualified, but who has the most money (look at obshama/clinton) to run ads, go here-there-everywhere and smooze the people. So if I decide to write in Ron Paul, because I agree with him more then the two major that are running, my vote is wasted. You are correct.

WRONG, the person I vote from might not get elected, but that person who is might see that maybe something needs to be changed because of the votes they did not get.If you really believe any of that guff, like kudzu, your ego has overgrown what little good sense you may ever have possessed.

So any comparison to Bush is really just a waste of time, and it shows there is really nothing good about Obama that we can talk about.

Albert I have common sense, since I left Maryland and moved away from the bad air in maryland and dc, as I had to live in the area for 6yrs.

I don't know what you have been smoking (wait is Marion Barry still in business?)but just because I don't vote for any of the two major's isn't a wasted vote. They pander to those with money and business. They want to screw the American people(oh give the illegals amensty bs), more taxes, talk to terrorist without conditions. Yeah they are the best America has to run this country.

If you vote for Obama or McCain, I feel your vote it wasted instead of not voting at all. You will just be feeding the continued bs that goes on in the District, and I guess you deserve whoever gets in, and what happens.

Good Luck in the future, because I think we both will need luck on whoever gets in.
