Simple, use Mozilla Firefox and add the Adblock + addon. Then you can right click that annoying ad. This will give you the option to block it.

But even at work (where I can't block ads), I usually can just ignore them.

Actually Jethro answered. Just like all those foolish people who aren't neocons who get upset when they see the word neocon - and then prove it by posting.

Always a big hoot.:D

I don't see the ads. It's quite easy really, all you have to do is talk to Fred in a nice calm voice and ask nicely that he hide the ads for you once you activate your subscription.

Ok, actually it's even easier than that. You don't really have to talk to Fred, just activate your subscription and the ads will disappear.

Gee...Maybe Obama actually cares about ham radio? I think I heard part of his platform is bring back the code test. :D

Actually, ads are ran through broker houses. People say "I want my ads run on a site with x amount of traffic", the the brokers find sites that meet the demands. Obama ads on this site are not because his camp specifically wants to promote himself to ham radio. This site just meets their requirements.

Like the tags, I don't pay any attention to the ads either.

Well, you can either:

- Leave the site and never return

OR

- Establish yourself as a paying customer by purchasing a subscription.

Those ads that you are so intolerant of are not a result of Obama advertising on QRZ.COM, they're obviously some kind of generated ads through a service. Ever notice the ads at the bottom that pick up key words in a thread? I don't know how the system works exactly but it's pretty obvious that they're just generated ads from someone paying QRZ.COM to be there. That's what keeps the site going.
Besides, lighten up, if you shield yourself from everything you don't like in life you're going to have to wear blinders. I see McCain ads here too, all the professional criminals have to advertise.
