Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., met Wednesday evening with Hispanic Republicans in Chicago making comments (http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/politics/blog/2008/06/a_mccain_flipflop_on_immigrati.html) to a carefully selected group of Latino voters in Chicago saying he would quickly push for amnesty for illegal aliens (http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/06/title----mcca-1.html), and by identifying immigration reform activists as “the opposition”.

Will this be the 3rd or the 4th resurrection of McCain/Kennedy?

Might as well accept it, it's coming regardless of who wins. :(

You Libertarians make the Dumbocrats look like honest people!:p

There never has been an open ended plain old "amnesty" plan put forth by either the Dumbocrats or the Republicans. :)

You make more damned useless noise than Ron Paul & Bob Barr.:p

"He was telling one group of people one thing and the Hispanics another," says Pulido. "I'm a conservative and I think he's throwing conservatives under the bus."
Go get em' Johnny. :D

Well, duh!

The government is already tapping the resources they currently have (US!) as much as they can for tax dollars and to sign up to fight in the war.

What do you do when you have squeezed all of the blood out of a rock and can't get anymore out of it?

Get more rocks to squeeze.

Pay me a grand or fight in a war, and start paying taxes and I'll let you be a citizen? SOLD!

We don't want it, but the government will love it! Besides, if we give them all amnesty, then we don't have to build that pesky fence either :)

You know thats the thought process :)

Never read the legislation have you? A cash payment is only a small part of the plan. The requirements to attain naturalized citizenship would be left in place and applicable, there would only be a one year period available to attain full citizenship. The completion of the border fence is part of the same legislation.

You assume that legislation will be the legislation that is passed.

I think it will wind up being a much smaller fee and a much larger window.

We don't want it, but the government will love it! Government always seeks its own end. This is why government at all levels should be kept small and limited.

Window dressing for the stupid; illegals already have amnesty through tacit acceptance. They're here and they're legal by default because "legal" is what you can get away with and they do and YOU pay for them all, it's YOUR tacit acceptance I'm talking about. You talk the talk but won't walk the walk... and the lamb lies down on Broadway.

Explain to me - what's the difference between naturalized citizenship and full citizenship?

I had no idea one could move from naturalized citizenship to "full" citizenship (whatever that is).

You, of all people, know the answer. I don't recall if we ever covered the steps to becoming a naturalized citizen in school, probably changed since then anyway, so fill us in on the procedure and requirements Ryan?

I've got friends and neighbors that I could ask but the subject just never came up in conversation?

Start now, work long and hard. I think there's a prize for the one that captures the most? :)

Maybe you should ask them.

I'm a naturalized citizen and I can do everything a natural born citizen can do (live and work in the US, vote, hold federal jobs, run for office, carry a US passport, purchase firearms) except run for President.

So now you have me wondering how I can become a "full" citizen since you seem to think that people start off as naturalized citizens then become "full" citizens?

What extra things does "full" citizenship get me?

Full or naturalized, same to me. Maybe full means you could run for President!? :D

Nope, that's "natural born" according to the constitution.

I don't have any ill will against Mexicans... Even those who broke the law and came here illegally. However they should be deported and either try to fix their own country, or they should get in line and come in here properly.
