Come on, this sounds like a mistake from NYS tax department.

I once got a series of threatening letters from NYS tax dept, claiming i owed unpaid taxes, about $700 or so. This was almost a year after I filed my tax return.

Turns out they lost one of my W2's, and after I sent them a copy they sent a letter showing zero balance.
