Hello,
I got a brand new 8800R dual band Yaesu for my birthday. Great gift! This radio works great except any signal comming in Shows 23DB on the meter! Simplex stations that show an honest 1 to 2 su show 23DB on this thing! Nobody ever shows less...
I searched and found the article on how to access the alignment, However, this page does not show how to calibrate the meter. I understand there is a low and a high S meter setting. I have a mil spec sig generator and the knowledge on how one would normaly check and adjust an S meter. I have no idea on what to push on the front panel in order to do this.
A call to Yaesu was Frusterating! I was told.. "I am looking at this information on pag 14 of the service manual, I cant tell you what it says though, Send the radio back". That was a hard phone call to take since I have a HUGE yaesu collection here. The turn around was 2 to 3 months according to Yaesu.. As you can imagine, I dont want to be without my new radio for 3 months!
If anyone could help me I would be greatfull!! Any noise or intermod opens the Squelch all day long and I am growning very tired of listing to buzzes and noise out of this thing!
