How do you transform clean cut american guys and girls and pillars of the ham community into an angry slobbering lynch mob? Start the "Topic from Hell" (Or the "Thread that would'nt die..Part XIII") with:
1. Tell someone you still have your CB
2. Talk about the CW requirement
3. Hollingsworth..thats all..just Hollingsworth
4. Say you love/hate the ARRL
5. K1MAN (Who is this guy??? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif )
6. "OO"...(Is that "Uh oh! or "oh-oh"??)
7. Say you sent a whole bunch of money, to a person you never met, to a place you never been, for a rig you never saw, and ask why you never got back an email. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Some things never change... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

8 . Calling CQ on 2 meter FM repeaters
9. Using Q-Signals on other modes than CW
10. Is Echolink really ham radio
11. My wife will not learn the code.
I'm sure many shall have additions - http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

12. Talk about threads that won't die.
13. Dr. Wally (Who is THAT guy?).
14. Newly upgraded Amateur Extras.
15. Wearing of HT's in publc.
16. "Dork Radio" badges
17. Say you sent a two dollars to a person you never met, to a place you never been, for a QSL card you never got.

I did get a free copy of the callbook ROM about a year ago!
Seriously, you can eliminate all but the code / no code discussions from the lists. All of the rest of them usually go away for a while before raising their "ugly" heads again. The code / no code is like the head of Medusa, you can't cut the heads of the snakes fast enough to kill it. Right now there are several active threads on QRZ.com basically on this very subject. None of them have any additional information. But, if they don't violate the "rules of the road", according to Fred Lloyd, the owner of QRZ.com, they are free to remain.

I don't want any messages from either of you, I don't want any E-Mails from either of you. All I want is NOT to see anything, anywhere on QRZ.com about your feud.
Enough is enough! NO MORE!

Dispute the validity of the "fractenna" in rec.radio.ham.antenna (or somesuch) and receive...
1. Threats of litigation from Chip for unfair trade practices.
2. Accusations of child molestation from several regulars.
3. Accusations of beastiality from the other regulars.

What about "some older operators not accepting younger hams who have extra class licenses"?
KB0IEY
01-01-2003, 09:52 AM
Yeah... RatShack. #You got questions, We got cobs. #That dead horse will always invite plenty of good beatings, I agree. #Then, you have the OF's gritching about how they had to pass the 20 WPM CW exam to get their extra while the new "Extra Lite" Hams are the direct cause of the riff-raff (a simple scan of 80M will usually show that the riff-raff is usually caused by both factions somewhat equally). #How about the Homebrew Hams who are doomsayers because they perceive the future of Ham Radio as full of "Appliance Operators", yet they fail to Elmer these same Hams so that the old "tricks of the trade" might not fade away. #Finally, there was a Ham who got edged because of the use of the term "Elmer" to mean a mentor to a Ham learning the hobby. #To me, Elmer = Mentor. #To him, Elmer = Fudd.
Truth is, there are as many dead horses to beat as there are Hams, so go ahead, lay the smack down on the threads. #Then, you will have released some tension so that you are ready to get back on the bands all calm and with an improved demeanor, and the aggravation will be, for the most part, contained here in the threads where most people are Hams or working on obtaining their ticket, rather than on the air where the whole world can hear it and cause our image to get tarnished.

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif how to staart a riot # 8 ....I KNOW this is an AMATEUR forum and such, but I DO have a question referring to 27.185 ( cb channel 19 ) :: Why are truckers SO interested in POLICE (bear ) reports ? 1 ) illegal truck ( bad brakes, worn tires, defective safety parts, etc ) or 2 ) drivers with warrants for them from their past ( or possible cdl violations )... or 3) hauling drugs from point A to point B to make some extra money or 4) your guess . I am asking out of curiosity, since it seems to be such a never-ending issue as to WHY the 18-wheelers are usually the main ones transmitting the "bear reports " and not " 4 wheelers ".... kd4amg

its kinda like a verbal radar detector. they tell each other what bridge/over pass the "bear" is hiding near, so others will slow down when they get in the area.

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif plus over half of the time when you DO hear a "bear report" when you actually DO drive by the location... there is NO cop to be seen ( like a cop is gonna be sitting there waiting for you 5- 30 minutes later )...there aint enuf cops around so they got to be moving to try to keep up with the ACCIDENT reports to fill out, etc.... *** we need more cops ***, out ON the road out enforcing the traffic laws there are in EXISTENCE now......kd4amg http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I would think a ham would have more sense than to use his call sign to tell ham that there is a trooper hiding behind the wal-mart bill-board. Im sure they might be a little bias towards this ham in the future. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
