I have never seen soo much interference.. I was on my 857 and I had to to unplug it from the antennas because its getting overloaded on the front end on all bands!! My florescent lights in the shop are half way lighting up and tvs are going crazy. All I keep hearing is HELLO..AUDIO...HELLO.. Went outside to get the mail and neighbor down the street had his cb on and you could hear the Talk-Back every time he talked... I hooked up a cheap cb just to figure out what freq. he was on but it was bleeding over all the channels... Perfect timing for sporadic E.

Sounds like a perfect time for a neighbourly visit, show up with some beers, check out his gear, and invite him to see what a "real" shack looks like and how it works. Might even gain a new licensee in the process. At least it's an excuse to drink beer...

Here I was thinking pin through the coax, but your solution is both legal and involves beer, so I tip my hat to you sir. :D

A simple high pass filter should take out any low band interference from attempts to work sporadic E on 2 ssb..

Which vhf bands were you getting overloaded on?

"My florescent lights in the shop are half way lighting up and tvs are going crazy. All I keep hearing is HELLO..AUDIO...HELLO.."

His florescent lights are flickering from a guy located "down the street" ? ? ?

Sounds like a "friendly visit" isn't going to do a THING to help his problem!

I would start making recordings and logging every time you see your lights flickering, etc. This guy is a SERIOUS transgressor of the LAW !

I have one about 2 short blocks away from me here. He was getting into everything and every band.
When I told him what he was doing he said to shut up or I will shoot you.
Don`t you just love CBers?
Glad I own a SKS, just in case I need it.

Wondering how many so called watts he is running to make that much interference. Been working 6 and 10 meters in the afternoons with good success. May try to drop by and visit and see he can make some adjustments or turn it off all together. I just moved here about 4 weeks ago and its the first time I have ever noticed it.. Guess we will see...

I bet I could whip up some sort of "incidental radiator" that would make reception a real pain on his end.

Probably, but these guys are not too interested in "receiving" unfortunately.

A long time ago, a co-worker of mine lived next door to a CB'er. My Co-worker bought a cheap CB, put an antenna in his attic, powered up the CB and effectively put a brick on the key as it were. It was probably a rubber band; but, I didn't hear any more about the problem.

If he were in the UK I don't think the visit would include an invitation to have a chat and open a few cans of beer, it would more likely involve getting the bugger shut down by the authorities ! Who needs a prat like that on amateur radio, perhaps that's why there are so many bad operators in the US.

Ahhh, the old pin through the coax trick eh? :D

Yeah, I can remember back when I was younger (not to mention 30 lbs. lighter and with more hair) that I was of the "don't get mad, get even" mentality.

But now that I'm older, and well.........I think the beer and "hey I saw your antenna trick" is a good one........and then once he let's you inside and he's showing you his pride and joy....... "accidently" spill your beer on his rig. ;)

Im surprised your country even allows amateur radio. You know , being a ham can be dangerous, you might get electrocuted. Thats bad for society, so maybe you guys should either ban amateur radio, or else your government could set up a surveillance camera at your operating desk to make sure your being safe.

We did something similar using a cheap 4 transistor Lafayette walkie-talkie with an external battery in a plastic bag... and tossed it into the bushes in the guy's yard. 100mw at a distance of a few feet from the antenna was pretty effective and did not bother anyone else. :D

Or it could be hung up in a tree nearby and hooked up with a ni-cad and solar cell.
